Meet your guide in Piazza Vittorio Veneto in Matera. From here the expert guide will take you to the Sassi districts. Reach the heart of the historic center and admire the splendid Church of San Giovanni Battista, in Apulian Romanesque style.

Visit the Casa Cava, a hypogeum used in ancient times as a quarry and today transformed into a congress center, thanks to the remarkable restoration work. Stop at Sasso Barisano and explore the rock church of Sant'Antonio Abate, where a classic example of the culture and tradition of this extraordinary city awaits you. Then continue to the Sasso Caveoso district and discover a typical house carved into the rock before continuing along Via Madonna della Virtù and Pert P'stèl (Porta Pistoia). After a short break in Piazza San Pietro Caveoso, take a walk along Via Bruno Buozzi, one of the main streets of the Sassi, and reach the rock church of the Madonna delle Grazie. Next, head to the Baroque-style Chiesa del Purgatorio.

The next stop is Piazza San Francesco, where you can observe the Church of San Francesco d'Assisi. Proceed to Piazza del Sedile, seat of the Municipal Parliament during the Kingdom of Naples. End the tour with a visit to the Apulian Romanesque-style Matera Cathedral, which dominates the highest part of the city
